Groups Calls For The Resignation Of EFCC Boss, Bawa

Several Groups calls for the immediate resignation and Investigation of EFCC Boss, Bawa over allegations

Its no news that the EFCC boss Abdulrasheed Bawa is under serious pressure, as several groups are asking for his resignation and immediate investigation. The plight of these groups stem from the extravagant expenditure by the EFCC boss and his family recently in Saudi Arabia where sources say he spent over $300,000 just on accommodations and other purchases.

In the same light, Zamfara State governor Bello Matawalle has claimed that the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, allegedly requesting $2 million bribe from him.

Matawalle made the claims in an interview on BBC Hausa. The latest allegation comes amid the growing rift between Matawalle and the EFCC boss.

Also, a northern coalition of civil society organisations has called on the EFCC chairman, Mr Abdulrasheed Bawa, to resign or be fired over alleged corrupt allegations.

The EFCC bieng an anti graft agency, Nigerians do not longer feel safe with Bawa spearheading the affairs of the agency, with such heavy allegations that seem to be true. As of the time of filing this report, a Hashtag #BawaMustStepAside is trending on twitter Nigeria, where Nigerians, mostly youth are protesting online for the removal and immediate investigation of the EFCC Boss. We will keep our fingers crossed and see how things would unfold as the Government is under serious pressure.
